Agency Overview

What We Do

The Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) is the fiscal backbone of the State of Ohio enterprise. OBM works with the Governor and every state agency in providing policy analysis, fiscal research, and financial management services. We help state agencies shape Ohio’s future by ensuring the proper and responsible use of state resources!

What You'll Do

As the first point of contact for the Office of Budget and Management (OBM), this role provides front‑desk reception, customer assistance, and operational support to state agencies, vendors, and the public. The ideal candidate is organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable balancing administrative and financial responsibilities. The selected candidate must be available to work 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as OBM’s front‑desk receptionist by greeting visitors, answering phones, coordinating mail and deliveries, and providing timely assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Review and process purchasing requests by verifying coding and justifications, ensuring compliance with state/federal requirements, entering and tracking requests in OhioBuys, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Manage invoice review and payment workflows, including validating coding and documentation, confirming receipt of goods/services, coordinating with Financial Support Services, and responding to vendor or auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain financial records and data—entering deposits in OAKS, preparing fiscal reports, managing payment card system data, and assisting with asset tracking and surplus processes.
  • Perform general administrative and accounting support functions such as maintaining files, processing returned warrants, submitting maintenance requests, and assisting staff with procurement guidance.
