Title: Financial Aid Specialist- TN Reconnect

The Financial Aid Specialist - TN Reconnect will be responsible for administering and overseeing federal and state financial aid programs, including the Tennessee Reconnect Scholarship, Federal Work-Study, Direct Student Loans, and other federal and state aid programs. Ensures compliance with financial aid regulations through student file verification, loan default prevention, unusual enrollment reviews, consumer information reporting, and required reporting to federal and state agencies. Coordinates WIOA and Veterans Affairs benefits, supervises Federal Work-Study operations, resolves award and overpayment issues, and works collaboratively with the Business Office to reconcile financial aid programs and disbursements.

Job Duties

  • Oversight (certifying, awarding, resolving overpayment, award adjustments, issue resolution) of Tennessee Reconnect Scholarship Program;
  • Reporting to federal and/or state agencies as required;
  • Supervise Federal Work Study Program including selection of eligible students, awarding, training of supervisors, coordinating community service and tutor assignments, approving and processing time sheets, resolving overpayments and reconciling with the Business Office;
  • WIOA/VA coordination;
  • Consumer Information;
  • Loan Default Prevention;
  • Unusual Enrollment;
  • Verification of student aid files;
  • Process Direct Student Loans;
  • Award and disburse Federal Aid and State Aid.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years of in-depth Financial Aid experience including verification, awarding, and program information;
Bachelor’s degree;
Experience with Banner, COD, NSLDS; FAST.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work independently and within team environment;
Analytical thinking and ability to multi-task;
Ability to present Financial Aid information at various events.
