Summary

Responsible for assisting the Assistant Director with administration, planning and coordination of a designated program, department or unit within the Financial Aid Department. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Examples of duties

Responsible for coordinating all activities related to the management of scholarships to include determining eligibility, processing applications, preparing necessary reports, posting awards on Student Information System, tracking and verifying continued eligibility, and maintenance of resource library of scholarship opportunities.

Implement policies and procedures while continuing to improve the delivery system, maximize office efficiency and improve overall scholarship unit effectiveness.

Responsible for receipt, disbursement and reconciliation of scholarships, Veteran Educational program and other funds.

Ensure scholarship and Veteran Affairs educational benefits information on the financial aid web page is current and up to date. Maintain scholarship database to promote scholarship opportunities.

Serve as a liaison with internal departments, donors, and external agencies in matters related to scholarships.

Assist in evaluation of aid eligibility and awarding of aid. Advise students and families regarding all aspects of student financial aid programs and delivery system.

Conduct workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community.

Provide personnel management activities of assigned staff, including recommendation for employment, supervision, orientation, performance evaluation and guidance and support concerning professional development. Mentor and train staff on policy and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate’s Degree and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands to handle or feel. And reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
