Job Description

Financial Advisor

Investment & Wealth Advisory | Tampa or Orlando, FL | Full-Time

About Saltmarsh

Saltmarsh is a client-focused RIA managing approximately $400 million in assets for individuals and families. Our team of experienced professionals delivers comprehensive wealth management services including investment management, financial planning, estate planning coordination, and tax strategy consultation. We pride ourselves on our fiduciary standard, transparent fee structure, and commitment to long-term client relationships.

The Opportunity

You built the book. Someone else took the credit.

Saltmarsh’s Investment & Wealth Advisory practice is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Financial Advisor to help us expand into the Greater Tampa market, with Greater Orlando also under consideration. This is a role for an advisor who wants ownership of their client relationships, a fiduciary platform to stand on, and a team that handles the operational burden, so that you can stay focused on clients.

If you are coming from a brokerage or wirehouse environment, this is the independent RIA move: no production quota, no proprietary product pressure, and a compensation structure that rewards the practice you build rather than the volume you push. Bring your book and skills here with the backing of a firm whose CPAs already serve the business owners, executives, and families you want as clients.

Why Advisors Join Us

  • Real operational support. Dedicated compliance and client service resources handle account opening, documentation, trading execution, money movement, and portfolio operations so that your time goes to clients and planning, not paperwork.
  • A strong technical bench. You will work alongside Certified Financial Planners and Chartered Financial Analysts, with in-house expertise to draw on for complex planning and portfolio work.
  • A built-in referral engine. Our CPAs and firm leadership serve high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and executives across Florida. This is a natural and continuous source of qualified introductions.
  • Bring your practice with you. We welcome advisors with an established book of business and provide the platform, compliance framework, and support so you can keep growing.
  • Room to grow with the practice. Our wealth advisory group is expanding, and this role offers a genuine path to shape and lead as it does.
  • Work-life harmony, not the poster version. This is an RIA environment with real support behind you and a firm culture that treats balance as the standard. Here you can experience growth and retain time and energy for the things that inspire you.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Actively developing new business through networking, referrals, community involvement, and strategic partnerships within the firm.
  • Bringing, managing, and growing a significant book of business over time.
  • Building strong working relationships with our CPAs and local firm leadership to generate and convert referral opportunities.
  • Participating in client events, seminars, and marketing initiatives that build firm visibility in the Tampa and Orlando markets.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned client relationships with high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Conducting quarterly and periodic client reviews, assessing changing financial circumstances, and adjusting strategy accordingly.
  • Coordinating with internal teams to deliver integrated investment, planning, estate, and tax-aware solutions.

Investment Advisory & Financial Planning

  • Developing and delivering comprehensive financial plans aligned to client objectives, risk tolerance, and time horizon.
  • Collaborating with portfolio management colleagues on investment strategy, portfolio construction, trading plans, and rebalancing.
  • Performing the preparation and analysis behind client meetings — research, plan modeling, portfolio review, and market commentary.
  • Presenting investment recommendations and communicating market and economic insights in terms clients understand.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensuring all client interactions, recommendations, and transactions comply with SEC regulations, FINRA rules, and firm policies.
  • Maintaining accurate client records, completing required documentation, and participating in ongoing compliance training.
  • Supporting regulatory examinations and audits as required.

Team Collaboration

  • Working closely with advisors, portfolio managers, compliance, and client service colleagues to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to the growth strategy of the practice.

The Ideal Candidate

Required

  • Series 65 or Series 66 license.
  • CFP or CFA designation (or a comparable industry designation).
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial planning, investment markets, and economics.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, with a significant book of business or clear evidence of having built a practice.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services, including direct client relationship management.
  • Proven track record of asset gathering and client retention.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and represent the firm confidently.
  • Willingness to work from the Tampa or Orlando office on a full-time basis, particularly early on, to build relationships across the firm. Workplace flexibility may be offered based on overall performance after 1 year at the direct supervisor’s discretion.

Preferred

  • Experience with high-net-worth clientele.
  • Background at an advisor-supporting firm, wirehouse, brokerage, or independent advisory.
  • Comfort working alongside compliance, trading, account opening, and portfolio management operations teams.
  • Proficiency with portfolio management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

A note on restrictive covenants: Candidates currently subject to a non-compete or non-solicitation agreement are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are encouraged to apply. Saltmarsh fully respects existing obligations to prior employers.

What We Offer

Saltmarsh invests in our employees’ growth, development, and work-life balance by offering:

  • A competitive bi-weekly base salary paired with a revenue-sharing structure tied to the book of business you manage and grow, distributed on a quarterly basis.
  • Firm-paid CPE and support toward additional licensing and industry designations.
  • Leadership opportunities within a practice that is actively expanding.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • 11 firm-paid holidays.
  • Major medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Employer-paid life insurance.
  • Long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) with profit sharing.
  • Equity program for Senior Managers+ and top performing Managers.

Location

This role is based in Saltmarsh’s Greater Tampa office, with Greater Orlando also under consideration for the right candidate. Saltmarsh maintains offices in Pensacola, Tampa, and Orlando.

Because building relationships with our CPAs and local firm leadership is central to this role, we expect a consistent in-office presence, particularly in the first phase of the role.
