About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Advisor to join the organisation in Vlissingen on a temporary basis, primarily as a replacement during maternity leave.
As the primary financial advisor for the physical domain, you will play an important role in financial analysis, planning, reporting, and advising. You will work closely with business controllers, budget holders, managers, and other financial advisors to ensure sound financial management and accurate municipal administration.
The role requires someone who is proactive, analytical, critical, and confident in advising stakeholders and challenging budget holders when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary financial advisor for the physical domain.
- Analyse budget and financial realisation figures and discuss findings with relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with business controllers, budget holders, and managers.
- Provide proactive financial advice and identify potential financial risks or opportunities.
- Prepare relevant financial reports and contribute to Planning & Control documents.
- Process budget amendments and help maintain an accurate municipal financial administration.
- Advise on and coordinate financial matters relating to various joint schemes.
- Engage budget holders and encourage them to take responsibility for their financial areas.
- Exchange analyses, insights, and questions with other financial advisors.
- Contribute to other policy areas when required, such as the Municipal Fund and Budget and Accountability Decree (BBV)
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation, regulations, and municipal procedures.
Requirements
Education
- Completed higher professional education (HBO) in a financial or related field.
Experience & Knowledge
- Several years of relevant experience as a financial advisor.
- Experience within a non-profit organisation or municipality is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of relevant financial legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of municipal financial processes and Planning & Control
- Knowledge of the Municipal Fund and BBV is an advantage.
- Experience with financial applications such as Unit4 and Proactis is an advantage.

Working Arrangement
Due to the level of customer contact and the need for close coordination with colleagues, the successful candidate must be able to work at least 2 days per week from the office in Vlissingen

- Onboarding is planned from 1 October 2026

- The position falls under Scale 10 of the Municipalities Collective Labour Agreement (CAO Gemeenten)
- Candidate suppliers are expected to comply with applicable legislation and regulations concerning employment conditions and the Municipalities CLA.
