The OCS Financial Administrator I position is part of the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) for the Office of Child Support (OCS). The SDU is responsible for overseeing the accounting and processing of payments for OCS in accordance with federal requirements. This work is done within ACCESS (case mainframe), VISION (VT State Financial System), and the State bank's web portal. The SDU is responsible for the daily reconciliation of ACCESS and the OCS State bank account, entering accounts payable, receivables, and general ledgers in VISION, processing physical checks received in office, processing a portion of payments received in ACCESS, and reviewing financial requests and inquiries from both internal and external customers. Any experience with the systems mentioned or with child support program is preferred, but not mandatory.
Training is provided for all systems used and we are looking for candidates with the minimum qualifications as well as the following:
o Strong math skills.

o Comfortable with change and ability to keep in alignment with ever-changing federal mandates.
o Strong communication skills with ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
o Comfort with keyboarding and common computer systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.)
o Able to effectively prioritize tasks and workload throughout the day as different tasks and requests come through.
o Forms and maintains collaborative relationships to optimize organizational team goals.
o Accepts personal responsibility and follows through on individual and team commitments.
o Respects and upholds workplace rules and expectations and acts with ethical integrity.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Work is performed in a standard office setting.
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.
OR
Associate's degree in accounting, business/office administration AND two (2) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.
OR
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/office administration.
OR
One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.
NOTE: All levels of required accounting experience, unless otherwise noted, must have been performed to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and standards.
For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
