FAR Specialist

Place of work: Cracow

Job purpose:

We are looking for a FAR Specialist to work for one of our key stakeholders-based Switzerland. In this role, you will work closely with various leaders/process owners/suppliers across Finance to understand accounting and financial reporting challenges/requirements; while assisting in the delivery of general accounting daily processing and quarter end closing activities to ensure they are completed in line with business objectives. In this position you will promote team and cross-team collaboration, and you will assist in local, regional or global projects. The role gives opportunity to participate in local, regional and global projects and that is why we are looking for a proactive, flexible person with a “can do” approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage month/quarter-end closing activities and various closing tasks, to meet agreed KPIs.
  • Ensure accurate Group and external reporting (BS, P&L, supplementary information) in compliance with IFRS, Solvency, SLST, and other relevant GAAPs.
  • Preparation of FIP submission reporting in accordance with IFRSN, SLST and SST standards.
  • Preparation of balance sheet accounts reconciliation in Blackline.
  • Managing tasks related to Swiss VAT.
  • Execute and document controls within the ICFR framework.
  • Cooperate with key stakeholders (Local Accountants, Group Consolidation, Tax, Treasury, Finance Business Partners) and serve as a contact for process-related changes.
  • Identify and drive process improvements and standardization, keep documentation up to date, and support annual DTP reviews.
  • Support the FAR Team Manager and assist team members with day-to-day and ad hoc queries.

Responsibilities may evolve in accordance with changing team requirements.

Candidate’s profile:

  • Finance and Accounting, Economy or equivalent academic degree,
  • At least 3 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
  • IFRS or other GAAPs knowledge preferable,
  • Practical accounting experience in end-to-end GL and financial reporting,
  • SAP and internal control experience,
  • Very good Excel knowledge,
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to summarize and present the results
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build relationships across various stakeholders,
  • English language skills – spoken and written at fluent level

In March 2016 we established a Shared Service Centre in Kraków, in Poland to support our global strategy. It is from this location that we have created a global shared service platform, focusing on advanced business functions such as financial accounting and reporting, planning and performance management, ICFR testing, financial systems management as well as HR integrated talent management operations.

This role is related to the key area of Zurich’s activity in Kraków.
