Salary:

$3,042.67 - $4,583.33 per month commensurate with experience.

The Financial Accountant I, under direction, provides organization to processes, reviews reports and accounts, assists with the annual financial reporting season, and assisting the System Office departments and A&M members.


Responsibilities:

- Assist the accounting team with the Annual Financial Report season, including preparing the Annual Financial Reports (AFR) for desk reviews, assisting with the publication of the AFR, and helping prepare for the AFR workshop.

- Assist with centralized processes for insurance and retirement, including monthly payments to retirement vendors, monthly payments to insurance carriers, equity transfers to collect funds from System Members, and perform a monthly review of the related clearing accounts.

- Process debt service principal and interest payments for bonds and notes issued by TAMUS.

- Assist with organizing the member's AFR for desk reviews and assist with the financial statement consolidation process.

- Monthly prepare the Cash in State Treasury Report which includes all members for management.

- Analyze member's Annual Financial Report balances monthly, and create monthly reports to improve reporting.

- Maintain AFR Microsoft Teams channel including adding/removing users and updating file content, monitor AFR shared email folder and route access requests for financial reporting software.

- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences and training sessions with management and staff members. Work with and assist other team members by sharing information, presenting ideas and concerns, and asking questions.

- Review monthly transparency reports and post to System Offices website quarterly.

- Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Accounting experience in a business office preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
