Job Description

Our client, who works across the Construction sector, is seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join their finance team. This role can be based out of Clontarf or Killimor (Galway), with a hybrid working option available. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on experience in a multi-entity construction environment, and the ability to take ownership of group reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly management accounts and financial reporting process across Irish and international entities against an agreed reporting timetable.
  • Own the general ledger, ensuring accurate transaction processing and robust financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and supplier reconciliations to maintain strong working-capital discipline.
  • Deliver group balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances promptly.
  • Drive practices and procedures with the new stock system and confirm they are being implemented.
  • Ensure accurate financial records of the company's physical stock, reconcile variances and work with business partners on improvements.
  • Oversee group Revenue/HMRC tax returns.
  • Lead the group year-end audit.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc analysis, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with experience in the Construction sector.
  • Experience working across multi-entity and multi-currency environments.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing management accounts and delivering structured month-end reporting.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger management, reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Experience working with project accounting, job costing, work in progress or similar financial reporting environments.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, with particular emphasis on inventory management, stock control and stock costing.
