The Role

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a diverse and hands-on accounting role? Multispares NZ is seeking a talented Financial Accountant to join our Wellington team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in delivering accurate financial reporting while supporting the broader finance function across the business.

About the Role

This is a varied position that combines financial accounting responsibilities with support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions when required. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of finance while contributing to the ongoing success of our New Zealand operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare monthly financial accounts and profit and loss reports.

  • Maintain the general ledger and complete balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Analyse financial performance against budget and investigate variances.

  • Ensure timely completion of financial reporting requirements.

  • Prepare and coordinate international and local creditor payment runs.

  • Support the Financial Controller with finance projects and general accounting activities.

  • Investigate and resolve finance-related enquiries and issues.

Accounts Receivable Support

  • Open, maintain, activate and deactivate customer accounts.

  • Support credit control activities and follow up outstanding accounts.

  • Assist with customer account administration and system maintenance.

  • Provide additional support during peak periods and leave coverage.

Accounts Payable Support

  • Assist with supplier reconciliations.

  • Support the Accounts Payable team during peak periods and leave coverage.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and ad hoc finance projects.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum three years' experience in a financial accounting role.

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and finance processes.

  • Working knowledge of both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.

  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support colleagues across the business.
