Financial Accountant (10 month FTC)

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Hybrid)

The Role:

We are looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Central Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, compliance activities, forecasting, and analysis for both our UK and Irish operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a technical accounting environment, collaborating across the business, and supporting strategic financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare VAT returns for the Irish branch.
  • Coordinate with external advisers on Irish corporation tax filings.
  • Prepare tax forecasts, transfer pricing reports, and payments on account for Irish operations.
  • Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and the external audit process.
  • Assist with corporation tax compliance and tax schedules.
  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts and central finance documentation.
  • Support the preparation of half-year and full-year reporting packs.
  • Assist with balance sheet and cash flow forecasting activities.
  • Compile and submit regulatory and ONS returns.
  • Coordinate management accounts, reforecasting processes, and related submissions.
  • Perform testing to ensure compliance with internal controls frameworks.
  • Reconcile data between accounting and group reporting systems.
  • Support balance sheet improvement initiatives and key reconciliations.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial projects, reporting, and analysis.

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Post-qualification experience within a finance function in a commercial organisation.
  • Experience in a technical accounting or financial reporting role would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, including FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
