Role Title: Finance Systems Developer
Reports to: Business Operations Lead
Location: Melbourne
The role
The Finance Systems Developer is responsible for supporting, enhancing, and optimising the organisation's finance systems, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI. This hands-on role works closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver system improvements, automate processes, develop reporting solutions, and maintain data integrity across finance platforms.
This is an entry-level role suited to a motivated self-starter with strong technical aptitude and a passion for business systems, data, and financial processes. The successful candidate will be expected to investigate issues independently, identify solutions, and continuously improve system capabilities with minimal supervision.
Accountabilities
Dynamics 365 Administration & Development
· Configure, maintain, and enhance Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and related modules.
· Support users by investigating and resolving system issues.
· Configure workflows, security roles, business rules, dimensions, and reporting structures.
· Assist with testing, deployment, and validation of system enhancements and upgrades.
· Document system configurations and changes.
Reporting & Analytics
· Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and financial reporting solutions.
· Design data models and ensure high-quality reporting outputs.
· Work with finance stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights.
· Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
SQL & Data Management
· Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
· Analyse large datasets to identify trends, exceptions, and business opportunities.
· Ensure data integrity between systems and reporting platforms.
· Support data extraction, transformation, and loading activities.
Systems Integration & Process Improvement
· Assist with integrations between D365, Power BI, and other business systems.
· Identify opportunities to automate manual finance and operational processes.
· Participate in system projects, upgrades, and implementations.
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver system enhancements.
Continuous Improvement
· Proactively investigate system capabilities and recommend improvements.
· Stay current with Microsoft platform developments and emerging technologies.
· Build technical knowledge and become a trusted advisor for finance systems.
Compliance & Governance
· Support key compliance and governance activities, including Modern Slavery reporting, vendor reviews, insurance renewals, lease accounting and fixed asset management.
· Oversee IFRS 16 reporting and lease administration.
· Ensure adherence to Group policies and local regulatory requirements.
· Participate in governance forums and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your experience
Required:
· 0–3 years' experience in a finance systems, business systems, reporting, or technical support role.
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365.
· Advanced SQL skills, including query development and troubleshooting.
· Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
· Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
· Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
Desirable:
· Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (FinOps) experience.
· Understanding of financial processes including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
· Experience with Azure, Dataverse, Power Platform, or data warehousing concepts.
· Exposure to systems integrations and API-based data exchanges.
· Relevant degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline.
