Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Finance Supervisor serves as the Port’s primary day-to-day financial lead and supervises assigned finance and administrative staff. The position coordinates operating and capital financial administration, budget development and monitoring, financial reporting and analysis, financial statement preparation and review, grant administration and reporting, annual audit preparation, billing, accounts payable and receivable coordination, capital asset tracking and asset creation, internal controls, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and municipal financial requirements.
The Finance Supervisor provides financial oversight and support for the Port of Alaska Modernization Program (PAMP) and other capital programs, including grants, reimbursements, bond proceeds, matching funds, project allocations, capital expenditures, project closeout, and creation and documentation of capital assets. The position prepares and coordinates required grant financial reports and reimbursement documentation, monitors debt-related financial requirements and bond covenant compliance, and identifies and resolves financial, reconciliation, coding, documentation, and reporting issues to support executive decision-making, audit readiness, and sound fiscal management.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and nine (9) years of experience in program finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been in a supervisory position.
Associate’s degree in Planning, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline; and seven (7) years of experience in finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been in a supervisory position.
Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline; and five (5) years of experience in finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been in a supervisory position.
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Satisfactory Background check at the time of hire.
