
Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThis role will have a particular focus on ensuring that QBE’s tax compliance and reporting obligations are satisfied for all applicable taxes for the Group, including assisting with tax audits and the provision of ad-hoc tax advisory to the broader QBE business.
Responsibilities
• Support tax planning initiatives to mitigate Pillar Two exposure while ensuring compliance.
• Consolidate tax reporting across group entities for financial statement disclosures.
• Analyze effective tax rate (ETR) and deferred tax balances for group reporting • Monitor and review the report before sending it to onshore for final sign off
• Prepare journal entries for assigned accounts or transactions.
• Relief cover of Service Manager, review journal entries of team members.
• Perform the reconciliation process which may include the following: - Beginning Reconciliation - Matching - Ageing of Unreconciled Items - Follow-up of resolution of unmatched and outstanding transactions counterparts - Review results of investigation - Lead the team in establishing channels for items requiring resolution. - Detailed review of reconciling items and follow-up on the status of the investigation - Provide Team Lead with the status of the accounts • Relief overall champion for issue resolution with additional focus on investigation, enhancement of networking efficiencies, and process improvements
• Contribute to the refinement of processes and procedures to improve tax reporting systems and procedures
Necessary Work Experience includes:
· At least 1 year experience in a similar tax, finance or accounting role.
Preferred Work Experience includes:
· Accounting experience within a complex financial services organisation.
· Moderate accounting experience within a complex financial services organisation.
· Audit experience preferred, with experience from Big 4 being an advantage.
· Experience in the insurance industry is desired but not essential.
· Experience in account payable and general accounting procedures.
· Experience of using Oracle Financials or similar ERP system.
· Proficient in data entry and management.
· Experience in Treasury or Settlements is an advantage.
Necessary Qualifications include:
· Tertiary qualifications or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
· Current or pending certifications as an accountant.
