Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Finance Process Automation & AI Intern, you will help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance Finance processes through automation and the responsible use of AI tools. Working alongside Finance professionals and the AI Centre of Excellence, you will gain hands-on experience supporting process improvement initiatives, automation pilots, business analysis activities, and digital transformation efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful business improvements while developing practical skills in process mapping, automation, AI, and stakeholder engagement. We are seeking a curious, innovative, and results-oriented student who enjoys solving problems and exploring new technologies.

This is a Full-time, 4-Month Internship role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Director, Finance Initiatives. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Supporting the Finance division in identifying routine or manual processes that may benefit from automation or redesign
  • Documenting current processes, workflows, pain points, and business requirements by working closely with Finance team members
  • Researching and exploring practical uses of AI and automation tools to improve the efficiency and consistency of Finance processes
  • Assisting with developing, testing, and refining automation solutions, process improvements, and proof-of-concept tools
  • Organizing and analyzing information to help evaluate potential improvements and recommend next steps
  • Preparing process documentation, presentations, job aids, and status updates for stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and enhance process efficiency
  • Participating in process improvement discussions and brainstorming sessions with Finance and business partners
  • Supporting user testing and validation activities for new processes, automation solutions, and AI-enabled tools
  • Monitoring and documenting results from automation pilots and process improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Data Analytics, Business Technology Management, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Eligibility for a co-op, internship, or work-integrated learning opportunity
  • Strong interest in process improvement, automation, AI, business analysis, or digital transformation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess information and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Exposure to generative AI tools, Microsoft Copilot, workflow automation, SQL, Python, VBA, or related technologies
  • Experience documenting business processes, creating process maps, or working with large datasets

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:

  • Technology Savvy – You enjoy learning new tools and exploring innovative ways to improve how work gets done.
  • Curious & Innovative – You ask questions, challenge assumptions, and seek out opportunities to create value.
  • Critical Thinker – You evaluate information carefully and identify practical solutions to business challenges.
  • Collaborative – You work effectively with others and contribute positively to team discussions and projects.
  • Results-Oriented – You take ownership of your work and focus on delivering meaningful outcomes.

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.

What You’ll Earn:
