Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an
Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organization committed to empowering
Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family and community
health and wellbeing through culturally safe clinical and community programs. WACHS
delivers services across Wellington, Dubbo with outreach programs supporting
surrounding communities.

About the Role

This is a full-time, office-based position located in Wellington, NSW.
Reporting to the Team Leader Finance, the Finance Officer (Payroll) will
support both the Finance and Human Resources functions by ensuring accurate
payroll processing and efficient financial administration. The role comprises
two days of payroll duties and three days of finance duties each week.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and within required timeframes, including timesheets, leave, commencements and terminations.

• Complete weekly payroll processing in accordance with organisational requirements.

• Process superannuation, PAYG withholding and payroll deductions.

• Prepare and lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.

• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information.

• Respond professionally to payroll-related enquiries from employees and managers.

• Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations and audits.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Modern Awards and organisational policies.

Finance

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

• Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations using Xero.

• Assist with monthly reporting, budget monitoring and variance analysis..

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

• Provide general administrative support to the Finance team as required.

Essential Criteria

• Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing.

• Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.

• Sound knowledge of Fair Work legislation, payroll compliance, ATO obligations, PAYG and GST.

• High level of accuracy, organisational capability and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.

• Current NSW Driver Licence.

• Current Working with Children Check clearance.

• Current National Police Check.

Desirable

• Previous experience using Employment Hero Payroll/HRIS or a comparable cloud-based payroll system.

• Previous experience working in a not-for-profit, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO), healthcare or community services environment.

• Knowledge and experience administering salary packaging, novated leasing and employee benefits.

• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, particularly within the health or community services sector.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and financial reporting functions.

• Experience supporting payroll and financial audits, reconciliations and compliance reporting.

• Experience contributing to system implementation, process improvement or payroll and finance projects.

• Understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and a demonstrated commitment to delivering culturally safe and respectful services.
