Job Description

As a Finance Officer (Tax) under the Accounting and Tax Unit of the Finance Accounting Department (FAD), you will support the Bank’s tax compliance, reporting, and advisory functions by ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of tax returns, tax computations, and regulatory submissions. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, supporting tax planning and reporting initiatives, and contributing to the achievement of the unit’s and department’s objectives while minimizing tax-related risks.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Prepare, review, and file tax returns, tax computations, and supporting schedules in compliance with applicable national and local tax regulations and prescribed deadlines.
  • Monitor tax obligations and ensure timely payment and remittance of taxes, including withholding taxes, income taxes, documentary stamp taxes, and other applicable taxes.
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations and analyze tax-related balances to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and tax disclosures for financial statements and Head Office reporting requirements.
  • Review transactions and accounting records to ensure proper tax treatment and compliance with prevailing tax regulations.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, rulings, and regulatory issuances and assess their impact on the Bank’s operations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather information and documentation required for tax filings, audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Support responses to inquiries, audits, and examinations conducted by tax authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in identifying tax risks and recommending process improvements to strengthen tax compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and organized tax records, supporting documentation, and filing systems for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and accounting schedules with tax-related implications and ensure consistency between accounting and tax records.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements while promoting strong risk awareness and governance practices.
  • Provide support to the Unit Head, Department Head, and Management in achieving departmental and organizational goals.

What Sets You Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine taxation, tax compliance requirements, and applicable regulations issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other government agencies.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in taxation, accounting, financial reporting, or related fields.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with banking taxation, tax reporting requirements, and Japanese GAAP (JGAAP) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of tax computations, tax reconciliations, and tax accounting principles.
  • Ability to prepare tax returns, tax schedules, supporting documentation, and regulatory submissions accurately and efficiently.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to interpret tax regulations, identify compliance risks, and resolve tax-related issues.
  • Demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and risk awareness.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with diverse teams, regulators, auditors, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, quality-driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
