About the role

We have a new work-from-home opportunity for an experienced Accounts and Payroll professional based in Canada to join our finance team. While this role supports our Canadian operations, it works closely with and reports into our Sydney, Australia-based finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will assist with:

  • Processing accounts payable, invoicing and accounts related reconciliations;
  • Preparing and processing journal entries;
  • Processing payroll and resolving related queries;
  • Maintaining databases holding personnel information;
  • Liaising with banks, vendors and other regulatory authorities;
  • Collecting documentation required for accounting, payroll and other employment related processes;
  • Respond to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate;
  • Assist with new store set-ups as it relates to the finance and payroll functions (e.g. business registrations and insurance applications).

About the person

This is a great opportunity for a finance all-rounder. To succeed in this role you will require:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years), preferably in a business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience, preferably within retail industry;
  • Demonstrated strong experience processing payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements and account reconciliations;
  • Advanced computer skills with high level knowledge in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Strong data input skills, excellent attention to detail and organisation skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines and priorities;
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written;
  • Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals.

As we are expanding into Quebec an ability to speak French with relative fluency will be highly regarded!
