Job Description

Downer’s Maintenance & ITS business is proud to be expanding its footprint across South Australia, delivering vital road and asset maintenance and construction services across the Barossa, Riverland and South East Regions, covering approximately 5,600 km of sealed road network. It’s an exciting time to be part of a team that’s delivering these critical works across the state. 

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Finance Officer to support our Transport & Infrastructure business within Maintenance & ITS (SA). This role plays a key part in delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial outcomes across assigned contracts and projects.

Working closely with the Senior Finance Officer, operational teams and shared services, you’ll contribute to strong financial controls, data integrity and informed commercial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting daily financial operations for assigned contracts and projects

  • Assisting with budgets, forecasts and cash flow reporting

  • Preparing routine financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules

  • Processing journals, accruals, cost allocations and recharges

  • Supporting month‑end close activities and General Ledger integrity

  • Setting up and maintaining projects, budgets and financial data in JD Edwards (JDE)

  • Supporting accounts payable activities including purchase orders and invoice matching

  • Working closely with Project Managers and operational teams to provide responsive finance support

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in an accounting or finance role within a project‑based, operational or services environment

  • Experience supporting financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting

  • Working knowledge of General Ledger processes (journals, accruals, reconciliations, cost allocations)

  • Experience assisting with month‑end close activities

  • Experience using enterprise financial systems (JD Edwards desirable)

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
