About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager, specializing in Global Retail to lead financial business partnering for one of our most critical global retail accounts. This is a globally scoped role, based in Cologne alongside the broader team, with a primary focus on driving performance, insight, and control across the MSH partnership.

This role will own category-focused financial leadership for MSH, ensuring high-quality decision support, strong governance of marketing investments (BBI), and clear visibility of commercial performance. As a critical position within the organisation, it will directly influence strategic direction, investment decisions, and growth outcomes with a key retail partner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Retail Business Partnering (MSH): Act as the lead finance business partner for the global MSH account, providing strategic guidance, financial insight, and challenge to drive performance and decision-making.
  • Category Finance Leadership: Own end-to-end category financials for MSH, aligning financial strategy with commercial priorities and global account objectives.
  • Marketing Spend Control (BBI): Lead governance and controlling of all MSH-related marketing investment, ensuring robust tracking, cost discipline, and optimisation of spend.
  • ROI & Investment Effectiveness: Evaluate ROI across marketing and category initiatives within MSH, providing clear recommendations to maximise commercial return and efficiency.
  • Performance & Growth Analysis: Deliver deep-dive analysis on category and account performance, identifying risks and opportunities to support sustainable growth.
  • Forecasting Ownership: Lead forecasting for MSH category performance and marketing spend, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with global and regional targets.
  • Planning & Budgeting: Drive annual planning and budgeting processes for the MSH account, delivering clear, insight-led financial plans.
  • Decision Support & Modelling: Provide robust financial modelling and scenario analysis to influence strategic decisions and commercial negotiations with MSH.
  • Governance & Controls: Ensure strong adherence to financial policies, controls, and compliance standards across all MSH-related activities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with global account leadership, category teams, and marketing stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and critical challenger.

About you

  • Experience: 7–9 years of progressive experience in Finance, with a strong focus on financial business partnering and global retail environments (ideally with key account exposure such as MSH).
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Global Retail Expertise: Proven understanding of retail financial dynamics in a global or multi-market setup, with the ability to translate account-level performance into actionable financial insight. Experience with large strategic retail partners is strongly preferred.
  • Category & Commercial Finance: Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis, with hands-on experience supporting category teams and managing commercial and marketing investments.
  • Marketing Spend & ROI Management: Strong capability in BBI controlling and ROI analysis, with a track record of driving improved effectiveness and return on marketing investments within a retail context.
  • Analytical & Insight Generation: Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Tools & Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel, SAP, Power BI (or equivalent), with strong financial modelling and reporting capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Highly effective communicator with strong influencing skills; able to partner, challenge, and align senior commercial, category, and marketing stakeholders in a global matrix environment.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; additional European languages are an advantage.
