The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office is responsible for attending court and conducting all local criminal prosecutions. The District Attorney is a State Constitutional Officer when prosecuting crimes defined under State Law. Additionally, the office provides legal advice to all law enforcement agencies and provides training programs for their personnel; thus, increasing the probability of successful prosecutions. The mission of the Office is to promote justice, ensure that the rights of victims are upheld by treating them with dignity, respect and compassion, and aggressively and fairly prosecute those who violate the law.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic and highly skilled finance professional with deep expertise in public finance administration, advanced accounting operations, and comprehensive budget management. They will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, including developing staff, overseeing complex fiscal systems, and effectively communicating financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This candidate will be adept at interpreting and applying state and federal regulations, producing accurate and insightful financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with rigorous audit standards related to grants. Above all, they will bring a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach that supports departmental goals and strengthens fiscal stewardship.

Education:
Equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field with course work in accounting, finance and business administration.
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of duties related to fiscal resource management, including at least one year of significant administrative experience in public finance and accounting.
