The opportunity

The Finance Manager at GHR will be taking on a wide variety of topics within the GHR function. The role is positioned as a trusted partner to CHRO, HRMT and Group Finance to:

  • Act as strategic financial advisor to the CHRO and HRMT, translating HR strategy into multi‑year financials

  • Support HRMT discussions with fact-based insights, scenarios and recommendations

  • Shape the forward‑looking HR financial strategy, including scenario analysis, trade‑offs and prioritisation of HR investments

  • Advise on financial implications of HR transformation initiatives (e.g. operating model changes, sourcing, etc)

  • Own and continuously improve the HR financial governance framework, including standards and controls

The Finance Manager at GHR is responsible to define, implement and run all associated HR financial Control processes, with the main objectives:

  • Formal setting, reporting and quality assurance in terms of financial targets within the HR function

  • Ensure financial transparency of the HR function, in relation to external and internal benchmarks

Role and responsibilities

  • Manage budgeting process globally (central GHR and country HR), jointly with Finance, to ensure a link between strategy, planning and execution in financial terms

  • Ownership of the quarterly budget review cycle with GHR, Group Finance and local HR teams to closely monitor year end DP targets

  • Ensure the financial performance of the HR function is being benchmarked vis-a-vis industry standards and that improvements are defined and reflected into the recurrent Dynamic Plans of the countries/ units

  • Discuss and review the budget & DP targets proposed by the CoEs and countries

  • Partner closely with Group Finance, HRMT, CoE leads and country HR leadership

  • Identify further efficiencies in the HR Operations model with the objective to further improve structural savings and reduced cost base for HR

  • Challenge the content of the budget requests and actuals, as part of the Dynamic plan, and QPR processes respectively.

How to succeed

  • Knowledge of the financial processes, from a budgeting, reporting and tracking perspective

  • Understanding of how the Finance function within ING operates is an advantage

  • Performs analysis and solves high complexity problems; creates solutions based on in-depth evaluation of full organizational context and objectives

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a clear demonstration of influencing leaders

  • You are a strong communicator at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal in English language skills and story-telling abilities

  • You are proficient in Microsoft (specifically Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • You will hold a master’s degree, preferably in Finance

  • Work experience in an international setting is required
