Organisational Context

The role sits within the Finance Business Partnering function reporting to the Discipline or Senior Finance Business Partner. Primary stakeholders include a defined set of operational leaders and managers such as Service Line Directors and Profit Centre Managers

Key Purpose

To support the WSP business to deliver profitable and sustainable growth. Responsible for providing dedicated financial planning and decision support aligned to strategic and customer priorities. The Finance Business Partner will work with a number of business centres to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and make recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain growth and quality of earnings.

Core Accountabilities

• Remaining accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial records (including balance sheet[1], profit and loss, cash flow and forecasts).
• Ensuring variance between budgets, forecasts and actual results are anticipated in advance, and that the root causes are understood, clearly explained and necessary actions are implemented
• Identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and commercial risks and opportunities, supporting the business in balancing risk with return, and acting as a trusted point of contact for the business, transforming financial and non- financial information into insight
• Using insight to challenge and influence business decisions to improve financial performance of WSP projects and services
• Challenging and monitoring overall project income, cost to complete, working capital and change control, engaging in project reviews for prioritised projects
• Ensuring corporate financial governance and control is understood, adhered to, and communicated effectively to the business
• Driving and responding to change within and outside of the organisation
• Maintaining the WSP finance operating model

Personal Attributes

• Studying towards a full accountancy qualification with a recognised organisation (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), expecting to complete within 3 years
• Understanding of finance business partnering, with experience of supporting a variety of stakeholders.
• Confident in communicating with stakeholders
• Committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning
• Understanding of working in collaboration with shared services teams
