Job Purpose:
To be responsible to oversee the operations in the finance department and to set goals and objectives throughout the year to ensure that the company goals are met.
Responsible for maintaining the financial health and financial operations of the company by distributing and --- financial resources, budget planning & controlling, and supporting the executive management
Job Function:
General
• Management of Finance teams: General Accounting, creditors, Treasury, Credit Management, Disbursements
• Internal Control Monitoring in accordance with group standards
• Identify financial risk areas and put corrective measures in place
• Manage the production of the Reporting: Monthly flash, Budget, YEF, Projects, etc.
• Assist the MD and CFO in the general management of the entity and organisational changes where required.
• Assess organisational performance against both the annual budget and Whitehorse / Zalawi long – term strategy.
• Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the MD and CFO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
• Engage the board finance, audit and investment committees around issues, trends and changes in the operating models and operational delivery.
• Assist in establishing yearly objectives, meeting agendas and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors)
• Oversee long term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with Whitehorse / Zalawi strategic plan, especially as the organisation considers sponsorship, potential acquisitions and collaborations with external organisations
Financial and Operational Management
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory requirements, office management and budget audit requirements
• Maintain internal control safeguards and co-ordinate all audit activities
• Manage cash flows and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
• Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions
• Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally
Month end reporting
• Ensure all month end reporting is accurate and on time
• Preparation and processing of month end provisional and normal journals on the general ledger
• Reconciliations of all balance sheet items
• Forex revaluations
• Analysis of cost items on the profit and loss statement
Fuel orders
• Monitor fuel supply and price changes
• Monitor and plan fuel orders after analysis of price and volume availability
• Ensure sufficient tyre stock is available for fitment and usage
Tyre orders
• Monitor tyre supply and price changes
• Monitor and plan new and rethread tyre orders after analysis of price and volume availability
• Ensure sufficient tyre stock is available
Stock control
• Monitor and ensure regular monthly stock takes are completed for each depot
• Review and query stock variances
• Review and query stock rotation reports
Management and Development of Team
• Ensure staff appointed are knowledgeable and possess the required skills in areas of responsibility
• Ensure teams master the necessary tools and processes
• Drive Whitehorse group operational performance
• Apply the strategy and business processes in line with global and local standards
• Assess operational risks, quality of service, financial balance, projects profitability and Whitehorse group competitiveness
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, e.g Arm Control, FMC, TSA, Security, TAPA, SQASH, Customs etc.
• Identify competence levels and appoint key members in teams. Ensure they have resources and time needed to share knowledge within their team
• Responsible for reporting system to Management, Zalawi and Group
• Report issues and propose solutions to Management as and when required
• Ensure workload is spread evenly amongst the team
• Ensure staff discipline is implemented and maintained as per company disciplinary procedures
• Responsible for staff attitudes and ensuring behaviour that is always respectful and professional
Core competencies
• Ability to manage, align, monitor and report on performance at all levels within the business, whilst identifying and taking appropriate corrective action in order to ensure the achievement of objectives
• Ability to verbally exchange information and ideas in a clear and concise manner ensuring understanding and appropriate responses

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
- Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Management
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a within a similar position and strong financial control background
- Experience of the industry
- Strong management skills
- Strong analytic skills (Complex analytic structure: Various activities, branches, projects)
- Strong skills and proficiency in MS software, Database management
- Knowledge of group Financial software or equivalent: Diane, Essbase, Hyperion
