Job Description

About Sermo

Sermo is the world’s leading social platform and community for physicians, connecting hundreds of thousands of verified doctors across more than 150 countries and turning their collective expertise into trusted insight for the global healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. We sit at the intersection of healthcare, data, and technology - and we’re growing fast.

Recently acquired by a leading private equity firm, we’re entering an exciting new chapter of scale and investment. We’re a business that embraces technology and AI not just in our product but in how we work, actively modernising our finance function with smarter tooling and automation. Above all, we’re proud of our people: a collaborative, high-calibre team and a culture that’s genuinely supportive, ambitious, and fast-moving. If you thrive on pace, variety, and the chance to make a real impact, you’ll feel at home here.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a qualified Finance Manager to join our high-performing Financial Control team. This is a broad role: you’ll spend the majority of your time (around 80%) in Financial Control, with the remaining 20% supporting Commercial Finance - giving you genuine exposure across the group and the chance to see the full financial picture.

This is a role for someone who can hit the ground running. You’ll join at a pivotal moment, providing crucial additional capacity across multiple finance projects as we scale, and you’ll have real scope to improve processes and drive initiatives forward rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the group consolidation and the preparation of group financial reporting, including reporting by function
  • Owning monthly financial reporting, including (but not limited to) automating functional reporting, implementing regional and product-level P&L reporting, and supporting financial KPI reporting aligned to agreed business strategies
  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment
  • Managing and developing two direct reports, overseeing their workload and reviewing their output
  • Reviewing the work of junior team members, providing quality control and developing the team
  • Partnering with Commercial Finance to support reporting, analysis, and business decision-making
  • Leading the audit transition from UHY to the incoming auditor
  • Addressing key areas of focus identified during private equity due diligence, including: Incentives liability and escheatment, Sales tax compliance, Section 382 analysis for the use of US NOLs, Transfer pricing to support the optimal use of US and UK NOLs
  • Identifying and driving process improvements across the finance function
  • Leveraging AI tools and supporting or leading AI-related projects and finance transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, automation, and process effectiveness across the finance function
  • Getting stuck into ad hoc projects and analysis as priorities evolve - no two weeks look quite the same

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Strong technical ground and excellent attention to detail
  • Proven experience thriving in a fast-paced environment - comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and pace
  • A self-starter who can hit the ground running with minimal hand-holding
  • A genuine appetite for improving processes and project-managing change
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Strong financial and management accounting experience
  • Experience preparing group reporting by function
  • Exposure to multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation
  • Comfort with finance technology, automation, or AI tools
  • Experience managing or developing direct reports

Why join us

  • A pivotal, high-visibility role in a fast-growing, PE-backed business at an exciting inflection point
  • Genuine breadth across Financial Control and Commercial Finance
  • Corporate Bonus: Up to 20% salary, subject to company performance
  • A capable team where your contribution is visible and valued
  • A forward-thinking finance function that embraces AI and automation
  • A supportive, people-first culture that takes its work - but not itself - too seriously
  • Hybrid working with a balanced two-day office rhythm
