Background/General Purpose of the position:


The Finance Manager role in the UKI Controllers team is an equally exciting opportunity, challenging, and ultimately rewarding role with key accountabilities that allow you to deliver unquestionable value for the business.
As most of the financial accounting processes and transactions for the UKI are delivered via and outsourced model, the main purpose of the Finance Manager role is to provide governance, control and risk mitigation. It is essential that this person has an in depth understanding of how the company processes work and where changes may have an impact, in order to take/advise on steps required to minimise risk.
The role has three main focus areas:
1. Internally on Group reporting and compliance;
2. Externally to meet legal and regulatory requirements; and,
3. Projects
The role reports into the UKI National Finance manager and is a key member of the UKI and EU Controlling team which is a core pillar in the Unilever Finance Operating model. This role has responsibility for 2 FTE in the R&D controlling team in Port Sunlight and Colworth.

Responsibilities, Accountabilities, Consultation, Information:
Internal
• Work with UKI RTR OC and IBM to ensure timely, high quality financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis i.e. V100, V105 and V800
• Leadership of the UKI R&D controlling team, ensuring sound financial control in the R&D entities in Port Sunlight and Colworth. Responsible for signing off the R&D financial results.
• Involvement in R&D grants process and point of escalation for Source to Pay issues in R&D.
• Ownership of the R&D bi-annual treasury controls review and manage bank mandates.
• Ownership of RTR controls for UKI and ensure they are operating effectively and correctly
• Ensure UKI is compliant with group policies, SCOA compliance and operates according to the GPM. This requires vigilance as can be impacted by process changes and new activities being implemented by the Business Units.
• Monthly and Quarterly review of balance sheet to ensure completeness of numbers reported and compliance to Unilever accounting policies.
• Support KPMG group audits for controls testing and YE reporting.
• Support corporate audits and SOX audits as and when required.
• Input into annual insurance premium calculation and renewal, ensure completeness of entities to ensure full scope is covered across the UK&I geography
• Manage access risks to ERP and review/sign off to access control team
• Engagement with management accounting team on month/quarter and year-end to ensure accurate and complete results reporting.
• Simplification of legal entity structure, capital reductions and dividend declaration to parent entity. Involves coordination with Treasury, Legal and Tax.
• Month end close, including posting journals, variance analysis and interco. transactions.

Project Work
A significant portion of the work to be undertaken by a successful candidate is of ad-hoc project nature. Such work can arise from a variety of channels, or from responding to a business critical issue.
Common sources of project work include: Corporate transactions and separations, change driven internally in the business, initiatives from GCAD, change in accounting standards or Group policies, site closures, changes to legislation.

External
• Co-ordination, planning and production of Statutory accounts for UK
o Planning, audit and signature for UUK statutory accounts
o Support the completion of statutory accounts for dormant entities
• Review base inputs to tax comps for UK and provision of support to tax department as required
• Support ONS/CRO requirements for a variety of returns, covering a range of different measures on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Managing Insurance policies and renewal with our insurance broker.

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money.In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever.
