Job Description
Principal Accountabilities:
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all tasks are delivered in line with the working-day timetable.
- Review and approve specific journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and alignment with global accounting policies.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, ensuring proper capitalisation, depreciation, and disposals.
- Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliation, and control processes in partnership with operational teams.
- Manage lease accounting processes (e.g. IFRS 16), including right-of-use asset and liability calculations.
- Ensure intercompany balances are reconciled and resolved promptly.
Financial Controls, Governance & Compliance
- Maintain strong internal control compliance across all financial processes.
- Oversee balance sheet governance, ensuring reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and fully understood.
- Ensure compliance with global accounting policies and accounting standards.
- Support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules, evidence, and responses.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and systems.
Cashflow, Working Capital & Treasury Support
- Lead the preparation of the weekly 13-week cash flow forecast with insights into risks and opportunities.
- Monitor working capital performance, including debtors, creditors, and stock.
- Oversee the AP process, ensuring strong controls, supplier management, and approval workflow compliance.
- Support cash discipline across the organisation, ensuring timely and accurate cash management practices.
Financial Governance & Control
- Ensure strong financial controls are in place across operational areas, including revenue, cost, and margin management.
- Support operational budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, ensuring accuracy and ownership.
- Support audit processes and ensure compliance with relevant financial and regulatory standards.
- Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support the finance team to deliver high-quality outputs and meet deadlines.
- Manage team priorities and workflows, ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Develop team capability through coaching, training, and regular performance feedback.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
Skills and Knowledge required:
Essential
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communicator able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- High proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills.
Desirable
- Professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in multi-site, operational, project-based, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with ERP system implementation or automation of finance processes.
