Downer is looking for a Finance Manager to play a pivotal part in supporting operational and strategic business outcomes across Transport & Infrastructure business, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality financial services, insights, and reporting.
Based out of Brendale, QLD you will partner closely with the Finance leadership team and operational stakeholders to drive performance, strengthen financial governance, support project and contract outcomes, and champion continuous improvement across finance processes.

Key Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality financial, commercial and operational support across the business.
Manage end‑to‑end project and contract accounting activities such as work breakdown structure setup, forecasting, budgeting, cost/revenue analysis, estimation at completion updates, and project close‑out.
Ensure accurate and timely month‑end deliverables including journals, accruals, reconciliations, work in progress management, inventory reviews, and financial reporting.
Monitor and analyse project and operational performance, identifying financial risks and opportunities, and supporting sustainable cost management.
Prepare and maintain budget and forecast inputs, including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, and ERP uploads.
Respond to internal and external audit requirements, providing documentation and supporting compliance with tax, accounting standards, and internal policies.
Manage cashflow activities including forecasting, retention follow‑ups, and supporting AR, claims, and cash conversion processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance systems, processes, efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
Coach and support team members, contributing to a positive, collaborative, high‑performance culture aligned with Downer values.
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent.
7+ years’ experience in a similar finance role.
Experience within manufacturing and/or contracting environment preferred.
Exposure to Tier 1 accounting sized software i.e. SAP or JDE.
Strong background in financial management, reporting, budgeting, and project accounting.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Comfortable working across complex business environments.
High level of resilience, adaptability, and critical thinking.
