Job Description

Budgeting and Financial Planning

• Ensure preparation and distribution of budget templates to Heads of Departments.
• Ensure accuracy and consolidation of annual budgets
• Ensure adherence to approved budgets.
• Participate in all budgetary meetings.
• Ensure expenses are incurred within approved budget allocations.

Accounting and Financial Operations

• Ensure timely processing and approval of salaries and other payments.
• Oversee all accounting functions.
• Ensure timely processing of accounts payable.
• Ensure effective management of accounts receivable, credit, and collections.
• Ensure regular bank reconciliations.
• Ensure timely preparation and proper maintenance of books of accounts.
• Ensure accurate recording of all accounting entries.
• Manage preparation of Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.

Controls, Compliance, and Reporting

• Define and implement internal control systems.
• Define and implement accounting policies in line with accounting standards and applicable regulations.
• Monitor accounting masters (creation, modification, deletion of accounts).
• Monitor financial reporting and ensure accuracy.
• Review financial reports prepared by the Business Analyst and ensure timely completion.
• Collect and update capital expenditure data for cash flow projections.
• Assist in preparation of cost studies for projects and proposals.

External Liaison and Audit

• Manage liaison with banks and financial institutions.
• Liaise with government and statutory bodies for financial compliance, sanctions, and approvals.
• Manage internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Performance Management and Development

• Establish and implement performance standards and best practices within the Finance Department.
• Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Plan and monitor training programs for finance personnel.
• Plan, monitor, and analyze MIS reports.
• Establish and monitor KPIs.
• Conduct periodic performance reviews.
• Initiate and support performance improvement initiatives.

General

• Perform any other duties required to achieve departmental goals, high productivity, and efficient resource utilization.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Integrity and strong ethical standards
• Adherence to work standards
• Experience in the Finance Department of a multinational organization or port environment
• Total Experience:
  • Mandatory: 6–8 years
  • Preferable: 10–12 years
• Managerial experience: Minimum 5 years
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Management Accounting
• ACA qualification provided additional advantage
• Strong computer and financial systems proficiency
• Strong decision-making and analytical skills
