Job Description

We have a 12 month temporary opportunity for a B3 Finance Lead to join the Cladding Remediation Directorate to support delivery of the Scottish Government Cladding Remediation Programme. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with skills in budget management and forecasting.

The post holder will support the Business Manager, Unit head and Director to understand, profile and manage the directorate and programme budget addressing risk and challenges within constrained budgets.
The post holder will need to be resilient and capable of operating autonomously and with other teams, but with the expectation of proactive information sharing to build and maintain trust with individuals and teams.
Support and supervision will be provided by the Directorate Business Manager and the Unit Head.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate completion of budget monitoring and reporting exercises and provide management with robust information and explanations to assist them in making informed decisions. 25%
  • Provision of financial management advice to the Director through delivery of financial reporting and analysis, and supplying high quality regular financial updates to key stakeholders. 25%
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external, whilst managing the timing and quality of information. 10%
  • Develop and manage relationships across the Scottish Government, understanding the drivers of risk across the organisation and identifying opportunities to influence the strategic direction of directorates and the decisions they are making. 10%
  • Identify potential improvements to finance processes with a particular focus on using core financial reporting systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of organisational financial management. 10%
  • Work with other in the directorate to profile future years spend and provide solutions to delivery within constrained budgets. 20%

Qualifications

Qualified with L7 qualification CCAB, CIMA or equivalent or Studying towards L7 qualification CCAB, CIMA or equivalent.

Working pattern

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 12 months with the possibility of extension, subject to ongoing service need and organisational requirements.
