Job Description

At ENGIE, we are building the energy systems of tomorrow. That takes strong foundations — including the financial controls that protect our operations and keep trust intact across borders.

As an Internal Control Officer, you strengthen how we manage risk across Master Data and Invoice-to-Pay processes. You work with teams in Bucharest, Houston and Mexico City. You make controls smarter, more effective and fit for an international environment.

What You'll Do

  • Perform risk assessments and control design reviews across Master Data and Invoice-to-Pay processes, identifying gaps and recommending practical improvements.
  • Coordinate control testing and self-assessment activities, review evidence, document conclusions and track remediation to closure.
  • Review controls over supplier records, bank details, access rights, segregation of duties and data quality to support fraud prevention.
  • Assess end-to-end Invoice-to-Pay controls, including invoice capture, three-way matching, payment runs and vendor reconciliations.
  • Prepare clear status reports and risk updates for management, escalating deficiencies and compliance issues through the right governance channels.
  • Build strong working relationships with finance, procurement, IT, audit and compliance stakeholders across Romania, the US and Mexico.
  • Identify opportunities to use data analytics and AI to improve control coverage, speed and efficiency.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related field.
  • Between four and eight years of experience in internal control, internal or external audit, risk management or finance operations.
  • Practical knowledge of Master Data governance and Invoice-to-Pay or Accounts Payable processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with data tools such as Power BI, SAP, Celonis, HighBond or equivalent platforms.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your message to operational and executive audiences.
  • The ability to work with autonomy, apply professional skepticism and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus, and Romanian or French is an additional advantage.

Location

Bucharest, Romania. This role follows a hybrid working arrangement. It requires approximately 30% international travel, primarily to Houston and Mexico City.

What We Offer

  • A stimulating role with real international scope, covering operations across Romania, North America and Latin America.
  • A diverse mix of missions spanning risk assessment, data analytics, process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • A friendly and supportive team environment within ENGIE Global Business Services, where your expertise is valued and your voice is heard.
  • Flexibility and work-life balance through a hybrid working model designed to support both focus and collaboration.
  • Meaningful career development opportunities within a global organisation at the heart of the energy transition, with access to learning resources and internal mobility.

Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
