Group 1 Automotive, Inc. is seeking a Finance & Insurance Intern to join our Finance & Insurance team. The Finance & Insurance (F&I) team partners across the organization to provide financial insights, reporting, analysis, and operational support that help drive informed business decisions and support the Company’s overall financial performance.
F&I is an important part of Group 1 Automotive’s dealership operations, supporting the vehicle sales process by helping customers navigate financing options and vehicle protection products while ensuring transactions meet Company and regulatory requirements. The F&I team partners closely with dealership leadership, sales teams, financial institutions, and other business functions to support a seamless customer experience, strengthen operational performance, and contribute to the overall profitability of the dealership.
For an intern, exposure to F&I provides a unique opportunity to understand how finance, sales, customer experience, compliance, and dealership operations intersect within automotive retail.
Functions in F&I include:
Secures Financing: The F&I manager submits the credit application to banks, credit unions, and lenders to secure auto loan or lease.
Completes Paperwork: Prepare and finalize legal contracts, title documents, DMV forms, and loan agreements.
Ensures Compliance: Follow state and federal consumer protection laws, such as the Truth in Lending Act, to keep the sale legal.
Sells Add-On Products: Present optional aftermarket protection plans and packages, which generate major profit for the dealership
Reporting into Senior Manager, F&I, this internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a large, publicly traded organization while developing practical skills in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations. The intern will work alongside experienced finance professionals, contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives, and gain exposure to how financial data and insights are used to support business strategy and decision-making.
