Job Description

Join OneAdvanced

OneAdvanced is at an inflection point. Backed by Vista Equity Partners and BC Partners, we have grown to become one of the UK's most significant SaaS businesses — £300M+ in revenue and sector-defining software powering healthcare, legal, education, public sector, and logistics organisations across the country. In 2025 alone we delivered record 50% year-on-year sales growth in the public sector, launched the UK's first sovereign large language model, and were named an FT Best Employer in Europe.

This is not a steady-state role. The Commercial Finance Director joins at a moment when our go-to-market ambition is accelerating, our ARR growth story is gathering pace, and the finance function is raising its game to match. We need a leader who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Chief Revenue Officer and commercial leadership, bring rigour and foresight to our commercial metrics, and build a Business Partnering team capable of influencing decisions at the highest level.

Reporting to the VP Finance (with close exposure to the Deputy CFO and CFO), this is the definitive commercial finance leadership seat in the business — owning ARR, churn, bookings, and revenue forecasting, whilst leading a team of Finance Business Partners embedded across our commercial functions.

What You Will Do

The Commercial Finance Director is the senior finance leader accountable for the commercial performance of the business. This means going beyond reporting — owning the narrative, driving the forecast, and ensuring that every commercial decision is grounded in rigorous financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Performance & Insight

  • Own end-to-end performance tracking across ARR, bookings, revenue, and margin — ensuring leadership has a clear, consistent view of the business at all times.
  • Act as the primary finance interface for commercial leadership, providing proactive challenge and high-quality insight rather than retrospective reporting.
  • Partner closely with the CRO on pipeline health, pricing strategy, and sales productivity — translating commercial activity into financial outcomes.
  • Drive accountability on bookings, retention, and unit economics across the customer base, with clear segmentation and profitability analysis by cohort.

ARR, Retention & Revenue Metrics

  • Own the definitions, governance, and tracking of ARR, churn, Gross Revenue Retention (GRR), and Net Revenue Retention (NRR) — ensuring consistent application across Finance, RevOps, and Commercial.
  • Analyse the drivers of ARR movement: new business wins, expansion, contraction, and churn — turning data into actionable insight for the executive team.
  • Identify retention risks and revenue leakage early, working with commercial teams to develop proactive responses before they become balance sheet problems.

Forecasting & Planning

  • Lead the bookings, revenue, and churn forecasting cycle, ensuring the business always has a credible, driver-based forward view.
  • Play a central role in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgeting, and reforecast processes — bringing rigour and alignment across the organisation.
  • Build out scenario modelling capability to support strategic decision-making, investment cases, and board-level conversations.

Business Partnering Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of six Finance Business Partners embedded across the commercial and operational functions.
  • Embed consistent KPI frameworks and reporting standards, ensuring every FBP is delivering insight-led, decision-useful partnering.
  • Coach the team to operate with seniority and confidence at the leadership table — raising both the capability and the impact of the function.

Strategic & Board Support

  • Support the VP Finance, Deputy CFO, and CFO on go-to-market strategy, including modelling on sales capacity, territory design, and pricing.
  • Provide financial analysis for M&A activity and organic investment decisions, including build-versus-buy assessments and deal economics.
  • Deliver high-quality ExCo and Board reporting inputs, with insight-led narratives that go beyond the numbers.

What You Will Have

Essential Experience

  • Senior commercial finance leadership in a SaaS or recurring-revenue business
  • Proven ownership of ARR, GRR, NRR, and churn metrics at a company level
  • Track record of partnering directly with Sales or CRO-level leadership
  • Experience building and leading Finance Business Partnering teams
  • Deep understanding of SaaS unit economics, cohort analysis, and revenue drivers
  • Advanced financial modelling capability (scenario planning, capacity modelling, pricing)

Leadership & Personal Attributes

  • Credible and confident in the boardroom- able to hold ground with commercial leaders
  • Strategic thinker who remains hands-on and close to the detail
  • High pace, delivery focus, and personal accountability
  • Clear, compelling communicator- turns complexity into clarity
  • Resilient and effective in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Genuinely curious about the business, not just the numbers

Desirable

  • PE-backed environment experience — comfort with investor rigour and pace
  • M&A or transaction support experience
  • Exposure to multi-product or multi-vertical SaaS platform businesses
