The Finance Coordinator provides strategic financial support to ensure fiscal stability and operational success across the organization. This role is responsible for coordinating and maintaining budgeting processes, performing financial analysis, overseeing cash flow, and supporting budget managers across the organization with training, reporting, and fiscal accountability. The Finance Coordinator ensures adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in financial management. At all times, the Finance Coordinator works in alignment with applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budget/Fiscal Support:
Coordinates the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual budget in collaboration with the Chief of Staff, CFO, and Superintendent
Serves as primary support for budget managers, answering inquiries, providing customer service, and ensuring department alignment with approved human and fiscal resource plans
Generates frequent financial reports, including actuals-to-budget and expenditure analyses for internal stakeholders
Supports budget managers with processing budget revisions, additions, and transfers, ensuring alignment with financial policies and procedures
Provides limited internal support to accounts receivable processes to track incoming revenue, maintain documentation, and coordinate with third-party financial service providers
Supports daily cash flow analysis and available cash review under the direction of the Chief of Staff, CFO, and Superintendent
Reviews expenditure trends to identify potential adjustments, risk considerations, cost savings, or operational impacts
Assists with financial data preparation for annual audits and other compliance reviews
Supports system workflows and process improvements for financial tracking and internal controls
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information for decision-making
Maintains documentation and financial records in accordance with UVA’s record retention standards
Occasional travel to support statewide student-sponsored events or operational activities
Utilizes the HRIS system to review, approve, manage, and revise budgeted staffing position allocations
Utilizes finance software to review, approve, manage, and revise projected and allocated budget resources
Engages with budget managers to review, assess, and allocate fiscal and financial resources in alignment with the budget
Serves as the finance team lead to facilitate team meetings, project management tasks, and guidance to other UVA staff and team members
Performs administrative duties and other tasks as assigned
Travels occasionally to support statewide mandated test administration and to participate in student-sponsored events.
Performs all other duties as assigned
