The Finance continuous improvement lead is a senior leadership position responsible for setting strategic direction and leading continuous improvement and project management activities across the Finance function. The role serves as the primary executive point of coordination between Finance project leaders, business unit stakeholders, and senior leadership, ensuring projects are executed with rigor, visibility, and alignment to organizational priorities. This role will utilize data analytics, observations, and core lean methodologies to understand and determine the root cause of opportunities and create solutions for improvement that directly enhance operational performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Project Portfolio Oversight: Define strategic direction and govern the Finance PMO master schedule, overseeing milestones, dependencies, and delivery status across all active Finance projects — and provide regular reporting to executive leadership. Evaluates the effectiveness of current plans, procedures, and initiatives and develops transformation plans for improvement and implementation. Ensures processes and updates are in place to highlight and track overall improvement and achievement of process and performance transformation.
  • PMO Framework & Enablers: Establish and govern enterprise-grade project management standards, tools, and documentation — including project portfolios, communication plans, risk and issue logs, change request logs, and stakeholder reporting — ensuring alignment with and advancement of enterprise PMO frameworks.
  • Risk Identification & Management: Lead enterprise-level risk identification, analysis, and monitoring across the Finance project portfolio; drive risk prioritization decisions; and direct mitigation strategies to minimize disruption to project timelines and organizational objectives.
  • ERP & Systems Implementation Support: Serve as a senior strategic partner to Finance, IT, and business unit leadership in the governance and execution, driving project management discipline across all phases and ensuring that dependencies, risks, and organizational impacts are proactively managed.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Architect and deliver executive-level project status communications and performance reporting for the VP, FP&A, Finance leadership, and other key stakeholders; serve as a credible and authoritative voice on Finance PMO matters for Board-level and executive audiences.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leads facilitation and execution of lean methodologies (workouts, ideation/creation, pre-work identifications and completion, delivery of results, follow up and sustainment of actions, embedding automation and AI) to improve performance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Senior project management leader with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading and directing complex related enterprise programs.
  • Proven leadership in a matrixed, multi-division, or multi-national organization, with an established ability to drive cross-functional alignment and deliver outcomes through influence and strategic relationship-building.
  • Sophisticated analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, enterprise-wide information into clear, board- and executive-ready insights and recommendations.
  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage with credibility and authority at all levels — from project teams to C-suite audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational acuity and executive bandwidth to oversee competing enterprise priorities, manage complex interdependencies, and sustain rigor and accountability across a broad, high-stakes project portfolio.
  • Alignment with UGI values and leadership competencies.
  • Proven track record of applying lean and continuous improvement methodologies from ideation to sustained results including automation and embedding of AI

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: B.A. or B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree (MBA or related) preferred.
  • Length of Experience: 10+ years of progressive management experience, with significant exposure to Finance.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma, PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
