Job Description & Summary

About the role:

PwC’s Tax practice has grown significantly and continues to evolve to deliver its ambitions through deep sector knowledge, agile ways of working and strategically aligned Network groups. This permanent Senior Manager role sits in the Tax Finance Business Partnering team, supporting the Private Business Unit. You will join a fast-paced team of nearly 30 colleagues, based primarily across London, Birmingham and Manchester, which supports around 3,000 partners, client-facing professionals and support staff. Working directly with Tax Partners and business leaders, you will provide specialist financial advice, executive-level insight and constructive challenge to support growth, profitability and effective decision-making. The role is the business’s first point of contact for decision support and reports to the Director of Finance, helping shape the direction and strategy of the wider Finance function.

What your days will look like:

  • Serve as a trusted strategic adviser to senior Tax leaders, participating in leadership and steering-group discussions and translating financial information into clear insight, challenge and actions that support growth, market share and profitability.
  • Drive planning and performance through robust short- and medium-term forecasting, ownership of the annual planning cycle, scenario modelling, target alignment and proactive identification of risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Lead complex financial analysis and oversight for major projects and investments, ensuring appropriate revenue recognition, including IFRS 15, strong financial metric governance, clear assessment of commercial impact and return on investment, and delivery of agreed benefits.
  • Improve working capital and control effectiveness by partnering with business stakeholders, CAEs, specialist Finance leads and Centres of Excellence; strengthen billing, collections and work-in-progress management, and lead junior team members through coaching, continuous improvement and technology-enabled change.

This role is for you if:

The successful candidate will be a qualified, commercially minded Finance professional with deep

business understanding, strong analytical judgement and the confidence to build trust, influence

senior stakeholders and lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Hold a relevant Finance qualification, such as CA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA, and demonstrate practical application of accounting standards, including IFRS 15.
  • Bring strong commercial acumen, business understanding, analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to turn complex financial information into clear decisions and actions.
  • Be an action-oriented self-starter and trusted relationship builder, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to influence, challenge and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing others and continuous improvement, with intermediate to advanced Excel capability and a technology-enabled mindset that can identify and drive change through adoption of new tools.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteer days a year and much more.
