Base salary will be in the range $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% super (HEW Level 7)

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Finance Business Partner to deliver high-quality accounting services at The University of Queensland. In this collaborative role, you will partner with senior project leaders to provide expert financial advice, insights and analysis that enable compliant cost management and informed decision making across operational and grant-funded activity. As a trusted advisor, you will help shape planning, forecasting and performance outcomes, supporting impactful research across a complex and dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide expert financial advice to project leaders, including Grant Holders and Chief Investigators, to support compliant cost management and the effective use of grants and related funding.
Contribute to financial and business strategies for a defined client group, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure reporting and variance management
Apply financial processes, governance frameworks, policy controls and risk management practices to ensure compliance with University and external regulatory requirements
Build trusted, productive relationships across business units and work closely with the Senior Management Accountant to escalate complex matters and support business case development

With strong expertise in accounting, analysis, reporting and experience in project-based environments, you build trusted relationships and partner effectively with stakeholders to influence decisions and deliver meaningful outcomes.
What you will bring to the role:
Degree qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or a related field, or equivalent experience
Strong financial accounting, analysis and reporting capability, with experience in project-based accounting
Demonstrated experience in financial advisory or service delivery within complex stakeholder and policy environments
Ability to build and influence strong relationships with stakeholders, using sound judgement, communication and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to deliver practical, strategically aligned financial advice and partner with clients to achieve outcomes
Progress towards or membership of a professional institution (CPA, CA or equivalent)
