British American Tobacco has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner (IDT) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia


As part of the Global DBS Finance Team, this role will provide value adding financial business partnering to assist the function as the future DBS Strategy is implemented. The role will provide insightful/accurate financial data and analysis as to the functions performance and report this to multiple stakeholders

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Consolidate and coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts across DBS Functions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely submission. Manage month-end close activities and prepare monthly financial reports with insightful analysis and commentary on business performance.
  • Perform actual vs budget variance analysis, identifying key drivers, risks, opportunities, and providing recommendations to collaborators.
  • Monitor and track expenditure against approved budgets, proactively highlighting cost anomalies, overspend risks, and areas requiring management attention. Support cash flow forecasting by monitoring spending trends, commitments, and forecasted expenditure requirements.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data through effective management of journals, accruals, cost allocations, intercompany recharges, and GL updates. Build and maintain reporting dashboards and financial models to support budget holders in monitoring actuals, forecasts, and cost centre performance.
  • Manage procurement-related financial activities, including COUPA purchase orders, project spend tracking, and supplier and contractor queries.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, company policies, and financial controls, promoting strong governance in day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with business collaborators to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree educated, with professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in Finance, FP&A, Management Accounting, Financial Analysis, or Business Partnering roles.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, group accounting principles, and project accounting, with the ability to support and challenge budget holders.
  • Good analytic skills, excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Experience managing large volumes of financial data and bringing to bear systems such as SAP, BI, BPC, and MS Excel to generate meaningful insights.
  • Good understanding of financial controls, governance requirements, and intercompany recharge processes. Ability to find opportunities for operational improvement and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Strong communication, collaborator management, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Finance and the wider business, self-motivated, resilient, and well-organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, work under pressure, and bring up issues appropriately.
  • Experience within an IT, Technology, Shared Services, or project-based environment would be advantageous
