Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. It’s a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate, focus, and connect.

This role is based in Sydney, and we’re looking for someone who calls it home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely, and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Partnering senior business leaders to steer Canva’s future
  • Leverage data, financial insights, and business context to shape strategic planning, execution and efficiency
  • Deliver insights that help leaders intimately understand and influence the growth drivers in their groups
  • Drive connectivity and alignment from broader company strategy through to group strategy and team KPIs
  • Synthesise information across the business to form a clear narrative for Canva’s cost structure and investment thesis, backed by data and proven execution
  • Creating frameworks for planning and performance to ensure that Canva achieves its financial objectives and operates as a well-managed business
  • Develop and integrate precise, driver-based forecasts that closely align with execution.
  • Freely translate between business strategy, initiatives, and financial modelling
  • Build and embed reporting processes that provide the right information at the right time and cut through to root causes and drivers for business leadership
  • Establish business case and trade-off rigour that ensure efficient capital allocation and investment decision making
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, inspiring action
  • Partner with business leaders to understand historical performance, headwinds and tailwinds to chart a path forward and achieve our financial goals
  • Collaborating with the broader FP&A and Finance team to drive financial excellence
  • Build and implement robust financial close and planning cycles, with the appropriate businessbuy-in and operational processes to support
  • Promote a sound risk environment, driving business adherence to controls and processes like Purchase Orders
  • Playing a key role in developing the next generation of technology finance leaders within the Finance team

You're probably a match if

  • Have experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Commercial Finance, in-house business strategy & operations or consulting roles at large organisations (bonus for SAAS experience).
  • Skilfully connect the dots both ways between company objectives, business strategy, and financial models.
  • Easily build trust and impactful connections with business leaders, deeply understanding what motivates them and being able to collaboratively work with them to drive outcomes and inspire action.
  • Are a forward thinker, understanding that for actions taken today, there could be downstream impacts that require thought and pragmatic solutions.
  • Have experience in key accounting concepts, financial statement analysis, governance and risk.
  • Have experience conducting quantitative/financial analysis, developing recommendations and then telling the story in a variety of mediums to a broad spectrum of financial & non-financial stakeholders.
  • Thrive on bringing clarity in complex situations and seeing projects through to completion.
  • Have commercial acumen to ensure decisions are not only sound but rigorously tested.
  • Are resourceful and pragmatic, thriving in a world of imperfect data but adept at using the right tools, insights and communication methods to influence stakeholders.
  • Have a bias for action and adapt quickly to evolving business needs.

About Canva

We're a global online visual communications platform on a mission to empower the world to design. Featuring a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, documents, websites, social media graphics, posters, apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful on Canva on any device, from anywhere in the world.

Since our launch in 2013, we’ve had the crazy big goal of making design accessible to everyone. We were founded on the belief that people shouldn't need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. We’re leveling the playing field and democratizing access to design and visual communication by empowering 100% of the world to communicate in a way that was once limited to the 1%.

We've always had a deeper mission surrounding Canva — which we talk about as our 'simple' two-step plan: to build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and to do the most good we possibly can. We're committed to our core value of Being a Force for Good, so as the value of our company grows, so too does our ability to have a positive impact on the world.
