Job Description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of a Finance Business Partner on a 3- months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £20.98 - £26.67 per hour

The Finance Business Partner will provide essential financial support to Walsall Council, focusing on robust financial reporting and the application of accounting principles. This is a hybrid role requiring a combination of remote work and office presence in Walsall. The successful candidate will be a technical expert capable of managing financial statements and reporting requirements during this three-month assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a financial reporting accountant, ensuring all data is accurate and submitted according to council timelines.
  • Apply International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and general accounting principles to all financial tasks and documentation.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements.
  • Act as a key finance contact for the department, providing expert guidance on financial matters

Qualifications:

  • Deep technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Mastery of core accounting principles required for public sector or local government finance

Essentials

  • Significant experience in the preparation and analysis of complex financial statements.
  • Proven background as a financial reporting accountant.
  • While not explicitly listed as mandatory, experience within a local council environment (similar to Walsall Council) is beneficial for managing Lot 6 - Finance categories.
