Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Assess Retail Banking performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) on a daily,

    weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc basis as required. Prepare and analyse periodic income statements, balance sheets, and business unit activity reports to clearly highlight period on-period performance, trends, and variances.
  • Proactively engage with and influence Retail Business stakeholders by providing high value financial insights, commercial recommendations, and analytical support to optimize business performance and drive sustainable growth.
  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly Retail Banking business review meetings to monitor performance against targets. Present value-adding financial analysis and insights during the sessions, record accurate minutes, assign actions, and rigorously follow up with responsible owners to ensure timely closure.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of transactions, new products, projects, marketing

    campaigns, and other initiatives to quantify their impact on profitability and the bottom

    line. Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to Relationship Managers and

    Retail Segment leadership to support informed go/no-go decisions
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and finalization of the annual budget for Retail

    Banking, working closely with various job families and sub-units within the Retail portfolio to produce accurate, strategically aligned, and realistic financial plans.
  • Review and validate Retail Management Performance Reports (MPR) in the Vision

    system on a regular basis to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data.
  • Collaborate closely with Retail Business stakeholders to anticipate future financial requirements, identify opportunities, and develop efficient, value-adding financial solutions and strategies to support business objectives
  • Analyse Retail Business performance trends on a monthly basis, pinpoint key drivers, favourable/unfavourable variances, and emerging risks/opportunities; communicate actionable insights and recommendations to Retail leadership and Executive Management to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with the Revenue Assurance unit to conduct monthly reviews of all income lines, identify potential revenue leakages, implement preventive controls, and ensure full revenue capture and integrity.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and facilitating Retail Monthly Performance Review

    (MPR) and Quarterly Performance Review (QPR) sessions, including data collation,

    presentation support, and follow-up on outcomes.
  • Perform regular reviews of General Ledgers (GLs), identify and highlight any anomalies, discrepancies, or irregularities; escalate issues as needed and diligently follow up to ensure prompt resolution and satisfactory closure.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of transactions (including deposits and loans), assessing their impact on profitability and the bottom line; provide clear, data-driven recommendations to Relationship Managers and Retail Segment leadership to support informed go/no-go decisions on accepting or declining opportunities
  • All other duties as may be assigned

Key performance measures/deliverables

  • Ensure all financial and performance reports are prepared with high accuracy and delivered within required timelines; provide constructive feedback and recommendations to enhance report quality, usability, and decision-making value.
  • Deliver high-quality, insightful financial analysis and input to support effective business decision-making across Retail Banking, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Apply commercial acumen and experience to constructively challenge business assumptions in forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes. Interpret financial analysis to empower stakeholders and the team to make robust, data-driven decisions, achieve performance targets, and drive sustainable value creation
  • Identify exceptions and discrepancies during General Ledger (GL) reviews and report preparation processes; promptly investigate root causes, resolve issues where possible, or escalate material items to appropriate stakeholders for timely resolution, ensuring

    financial integrity and compliance.

Basic Qualification

  • A First Degree in Accounting or Finance (BSc Accounting, B.Comm , etc)
  • Part or full qualification in Professional Accountancy (CA, ACCA, CIMA, etc)

Experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience working in financial reporting (a finance or risk support role would

    be sufficient).
  • Working knowledge of accounting software. (Knowledge of Flex cube or Bank Master will

    be an advantage.)

  • Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of management regarding

    management information needs.
  • Good interpersonal skills required in liaising with people at different levels within and outside the bank.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills particularly in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access & Power Point.
