Job Description

The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organisation. This part-time position is ideal for individuals seeking to start their career in the financial services industry. The successful candidate will assist with various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance while contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Team
  • Assist with banking processes and accurate data entry
  • Support payroll processing when required
  • Monitor the finance inbox and respond to routine enquiries
  • Prepare and verify supplier forms and documentation
  • Assist with accounts payable and ensure invoices progress efficiently
  • Create accounts receivable invoices as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Tertiary study in finance, business or administration (desirable but not required)
  • Interest in finance and financial administration
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness to learn finance systems and software
  • Clear, respectful and professional communication skills
  • Ability to organise workload and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to build positive relationships across diverse groups
  • Understanding of WHS, emergency procedures and incident reporting
  • Current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or willingness to obtain

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
