Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy Implementation: Collaborate with project management to implement and supervise the financial strategy of the project.
  • Resource Management: Manage economic resources to optimize cash flows and profits, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Budget Oversight: Control the overall project budget, overseeing accounting, financial records, balance sheets, accruals, and budget variances.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate activities across relevant functions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Supervise accounting systems to ensure compliance with existing regulations and legislation.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, analyzing and reporting deviations.
  • Maintain and regularly update project cash flow forecasts, proactively managing working capital requirements and funding needs for the joint venture.
  • Stakeholder Relations:
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, and local laws, including in Occupational Health & Safety and Construction Safety Act regulations.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Manage and coordinate finance and administrative personnel, ensuring effective workload planning, performance management, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Joint Venture Management:
  • Prepare monthly management and financial reports for joint venture partners.
  • Manage queries from the JV Partners related to financial reports.
  • Audit Management:
  • Lead and coordinate internal, external, statutory, and joint venture audits, ensuring timely provision of supporting documentation, effective resolution of findings, and maintenance of strong internal controls.
  • Provide support to other projects and business areas as required.
  • Other duties as related to the role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
  • Comfort with financial models and analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to report issues to the Project Director.
  • Analysis of financial data and preparation of reports, statements, and projections.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience in similar capacity.
  • Experience in construction,
  • At least 15 years’ experience in similar capacit
  • Degree from an accredited University in either Accounting or Finance.
  • CA, CGA, CMA, CPA designation preferred.
  • MBA would be an asset
