The Finance Analyst is a key role within the VFI Global Centre finance team. The role works across a variety of stakeholders (both finance and non-finance) and with different levels in the organization to provide reporting and financial advisory, research, consulting and support that informs decision making, and supports the financial management of VFI.


To meet this end, this position is responsible for the collection and consolidation of monthly reporting data across the network. Initially the Finance Analyst will review this data for quality and errors and then leverage this data to produce monthly management reports for the Board and senior management. The Finance Analyst will also prepare and design specialized, complex and/or large data financial reports.


Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain integrity and timeliness of data in various systems assigned (e.g. sunsystem) and ensure that the data is consistent and accurate. Systems include but is not limited to Sunsystem, internal system and ledger, etc.
  • Prepare and develop financial reports and analysis, and collaborate with stakeholders to arrive at the desired outcome.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of MFIs toidentifypotential risk areas. Proactively address identified risks and work closely with management to implement effective mitigation measures and prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting, reporting, and finance policies and procedures. Address instances of non-compliance promptly and appropriately, support management in resolving identified issues, and escalate significant concerns to senior management when necessary.
  • Lead, participate and/or contribute to ad-hoc projects work as required.
  • Train stakeholders or users on financial analysis reports, skills policies and/or processes.
  • Continuously improve, develop or provide intelligent advice and recommendations in the development of reporting and analytical tools, templates, systems and processes to increase efficiency, accuracy and productivity of reporting and analysis (e.g. automation).
  • Clearly and adequately present to stakeholders. Participate and contribute in discussions, conferences or working groups as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy and update the contents of various sites includes but not limited to Sharepoint web page, Teams, and Outlook.

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Required

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience preferably in an international NGO environment, multinational organization or an international audit/accounting environment.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Advanced skills in Sunsystems, PowerBI, Power Query and/or Power Apps
  • Experience of preparing complex management reports on a timely basis
  • Has substantial and successful experience working in a multi-cultural, geographically dispersed work environment (preferably with some experience working with and supporting people off-shore) and is able to work with several functional managers or stakeholders.
  • Strong spoken and written English

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or Universitydegree in Accounting or Finance
  • Has extensive and advanced knowledge and experience in all areas of finance and accounting, preferably in an international development, non-profit or multinational organization
  • Has the ability to understand multiple data sources and how they relate to each other
  • Able to work with several functional managers or stakeholders andis able toeffectively communicate with all levels in the organization (verbally and in writing)
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently and critically, self-learnand self-manage, and perform detailed and complex analysisHas the confidence and competence toidentifyproblems and recommend solutions and best practices.
  • Hasvery stronganalytical, problem-solving, multi-taskingand organizational skills

Travel and Work Arrangements

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5%of the time
  • This position is eligible for hybridworkand its application mustcomply withGCMO and/or GFSC hybrid policies and procedures.
  • Regular use of a computer, with ability to take breaks to prevent prolonged periods of sitting.
