Based in Carlsbad, CA, this role sits within the Clinical Sequencing Division (CSD) of the Life Sciences Group (LSG), supporting both FP&A and R&D finance. It is an opportunity to build strong business partnering and FP&A process skills within an innovation-driven business, while bringing a modern mindset around data, automation, and AI-enabled finance.

CSD operates in a fast-moving, highly competitive market where R&D prioritization and resource allocation are critical to success. This role partners closely with R&D leadership to support strategic roadmap decisions, improve investment visibility, and strengthen financial decision support across the business.

As part of the division FP&A team, the role also supports MBR and QBR consolidation, cross-functional collaboration with CSD leaders, and preparation of Group and Corporate deliverables. The analyst will leverage dashboard tools and partner with Digital Finance teams to enhance reporting, improve insight generation, and help modernize how finance supports the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the $90M CSD R&D OpEx budget and partner with R&D leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and investment tradeoffs
  • Develop the Annual Operating Plan and own Roadmap preparation for senior leadership reviews
  • Support monthly PV2 reporting and update R&D financials in MBR/QBR materials
  • Partner cross-functionally to support decisions that move new products from concept to commercial launch
  • Review CapEx actuals and forecasts, ensure accounting compliance, and support spend approvals and financial guidance
  • Coordinate with Accounting & Finance centers of excellence to manage capital and operating expenditures
  • Lead key elements of MBR/QBR financial consolidation, including revenue and Organic Growth splits between Core and CDx, OpEx bridge support, and metric validation
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and decision support on topics such as standard margins, OpEx drivers, PV2 by geography, and cost center hierarchy changes
  • Use systems, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting, forecasting, and finance process efficiency

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, finance, accounting, or analytical roles
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial systems and large data sets
  • Experience with forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience with tools such as Hyperion, HFM, PLN, SAP, Power BI, or similar systems preferred
  • Interest in automation, AI, and the future of finance preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00–$125,000.00.
