Job Title

Finance Specialist – HPS ACS Tooling & Alliance Funding

The Finance Specialist – ACS Tooling & Alliance Funding supports Advanced Compute Solutions (ACS) by managing financial oversight of tooling investments and strategic alliance funding. He is part of the ACS and Hybrid GBU Finance team of 11 people and works closely with the ACS GBU Lead. The role ensures accurate tracking, forecasting, accruals, and governance of tooling spend across suppliers and programs, and supports the financial management of partner‑funded initiatives (e.g., silicon, technology, or ecosystem partners).

This role operates in a hardware‑intensive, ODM‑driven environment, requiring close collaboration with Program Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Accounting, as well as strong rigor around spend visibility, liability, and timing.

Key Responsibilities

Tooling Spend Management

  • Own end‑to‑end tooling spend tracking for ACS programs (fixtures, molds, test equipment, manufacturing tooling)
  • Track projected vs actual tooling costs, ensuring alignment with RFQs, POs, and supplier commitments
  • Maintain tooling trackers and ensure monthly reconciliation of actuals vs forecasts
  • Identify tooling timing risks, overruns, or under‑utilization and flag early to stakeholders
  • Forecasting, Flash & Accruals
  • Support monthly flash and quarterly outlook related to tooling spend
  • Determine and support tooling accruals based on HP’s liability, contract terms, and evidence
  • Work with Supply Chain and Accounting to ensure tooling costs are:
  • Booked in the correct period
  • Aligned with HP accounting policies
  • Ensure no tooling spend is missed or double‑counted across close cycle

Alliance Funding & Partner Contributions

  • Track alliance funding agreements (e.g., AMD, NVIDIA, Intel or other partners) tied to ACS programs
  • Monitor inflows, offsets, repayments, or cost‑sharing elements linked to partner funding
  • Ensure alliance funding is reflected correctly in:
  • Forecasts
  • Actuals
  • Spend mitigation plans
  • Support analysis of net ACS exposure after partner funding

Spend Governance & Controls

  • Ensure tooling and alliance spend complies with:
  • Approved budgets
  • Governance rules
  • Contractual terms
  • Validate that:
  • Tooling spend has appropriate authorization
  • Financial exposure is understood before commitments are made
  • Support audit requests and internal reviews related to tooling and partner funding

Tool development and Flash/Actual reporting

  • Develop and maintain ACS Spend PBI Dashboard
  • Create ad hoc reporting for month end & quarter end GBU reporting activities
  • Be involved in any ad ’hoc GBU request

Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Act as Finance SPOC for tooling and alliance spend with:
  • Program Managers
  • RFQ / Procurement teams
  • Supply Chain
  • Accounting / CFR
  • Translate operational inputs into clear financial impact and risk visibility
  • Support leadership with concise summaries on tooling exposure and funding leverage

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics

Typically 1–4 years of experience in finance, cost control, or spend management

Experience with:

Manufacturing or hardware programs

Tooling or capital‑like spend

Partner or co‑funded initiatives
is a strong plus

Required Knowledge & Skills

Strong understanding of OPEX vs tooling / investment‑type spend

Familiarity with accrual concepts and spend timing

Advanced Excel skills (trackers, pivots, reconciliations, variance analysis)

Comfortable working with incomplete or evolving inputs

Strong attention to detail and financial discipline

Clear, structured communication with operational and finance stakeholders

Ability to challenge assumptions and escalate risks professionally

Scope & Working Style

Operates with moderate autonomy within a defined scope

Works on financially material, timing‑sensitive spend

Frequent interaction with senior program and supply chain stakeholders

Role requires rigor, follow‑through, and comfort managing ambiguity

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in financial management, internal audit, accounting, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
