The Finance Analyst, Commercial will provide analytical, financial modeling, and commercial support to the Senior Finance Manager, Commercial and broader finance leadership team. The role focuses on rate build development, bid and pricing analysis, contract review, scenario modeling, and post-award audits to support profitable and commercially sound business decisions. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive financial rigor and commercial discipline throughout the project lifecycle.

What would you be doing?

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Track key KPIs and provide insights to highlight risks, opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Assist in preparing financial analysis and reporting that feeds into strategic decision-making for senior leaders.
  • Develop ad hoc reporting and analytical tools to improve business performance visibility and decision-making.

Commercial Support

  • Assist in the preparation of financial models for bids, tenders, and contract negotiations.
  • Review and track contract requirements, commercial terms, pricing structures, and financial obligations associated with bids and awarded work.
  • Perform bid scenario and sensitivity analysis and provide pricing support to evaluate financial risks, optimize commercial outcomes, and support competitive contract proposals.

Financial Modeling & Tools

  • Own the maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s rate build model.
  • Develop project specific and strategic rate builds in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure financial models are accurate, consistent, auditable and aligned with company standards.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline and improve commercial modeling processes.

Post Award Audits

  • Own and perform audits on awarded contracts and projects.
  • Verify alignment between approved rate builds, contractual terms, project set up and executed commercial agreements.
  • Identify discrepancies, compliance concerns, and financial risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track audit findings and support resolution efforts with operational and finance stakeholders.

Collaboration & Business Partnering

  • Work closely with Operations, Commercial, Business Development, Project Management, and Finance teams to provide timely financial insights and support.
  • Assist in evaluating the financial implications of contract terms and operational decisions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure financial outcomes align with operational objectives and business strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Progress toward CPA, CFA, or equivalent designation would be an asset.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in financial planning & analysis, project finance, or commercial finance (ideally within Oil & Gas, EPC, or construction).
  • Strong technical skills in Excel (financial modeling) and PowerPoint; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.) preferred.
  • Analytical: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Detail Oriented: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail when performing financial analysis, contract review and audits.
  • Technical: Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling ability.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and confident in presenting analysis to stakeholders.
  • Organizational: Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a project-driven environment.
  • Collaborative: Works effectively with cross-functional teams and adapts to changing business needs.
