Job Description

St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Finance & Accounting Operations Manager. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Business/Controller, the Finance & Accounting Operations Manager oversees the business affairs and budget functions of the College. The incumbent collects, maintains, and analyzes financial data to support business objectives and sound fiscal management; assists with the preparation of financial reports, metrics, projections, budgets, year-end closing activities, and other financial analyses, while maintaining accurate and timely financial dashboards for management insight. The Finance & Accounting Operations Manager ensures financial reporting, operations, and transactions comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, financial standards, internal controls, and applicable GASB requirements; supports the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of the College’s financial activities and contributes to effective capital and operating budget management and overall fiscal stewardship. Required skills include ability to self-direct, perform quantitative analyses, data query, analysis, and manipulation, and excel at verbal and written communication. The salary range is $75,000 - $82,000 with a contract end date of March 31, 2028

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is beneficial.
  • Five (5) years’ accounting, fiscal or budgetary experience working in a non-profit organization; college or university setting preferred.

Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
