We are currently looking for a suitable, qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the Finance & Accounting Coordinator to be based in Western Highlands Province , Papua New Guinea.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to provide financial services to the WHP Area Program Office & support Country Office Program in the Finance and Grants Section in terms of budget control and monitoring, reporting and maintaining Grant files to enhance efficient and effective donor accountability.

MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure timely submission of complete and accurate financial reports in compliance with GAAP, WVI and donor requirements.
  • Provide monthly financial information/reports on different Projects to Project Managers for monitoring expenditure for rapid decision making and proper planning and follow through on any action plan
  • Provide technical advice to program staff, and coordinate preparation of grant proposal budgets, implement revisions of existing grants budget as necessary.
  • Build capacity of non-finance staff in donor/ grant regulations and requirements and provide technical support to project implementing teams/partners including sub-grantees
  • Ensure all relevant documents relating to grants; from proposal to final stage are properly filed and readily accessible (Grant agreement, amendments, monthly/quarterly reports, fixed assets listing etc)
  • Carry out Periodic project visit to Subrecipients and other implementing partners to ensure compliance with donor regulations
  • Coordinate with internal and external audit staff to facilitate annual financial audit and ensure timely implementation of financial audit recommendations.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Grant Finance Managers & Operations Supervisors from time to time.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Accounting or Accounting Technician Competency - PNGIA/Business Management and Accounting
  • Knowledge in Sun system and or other Accounting software;
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Fair knowledge in Global Fund Guidelines.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and officer software packages (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • With 3 to 5 years working experience in Global Fund financial management
  • Must be a committed Christian and be able to stand above denominational diversities
  • Good communications skills
  • Physically fit with no underlying medical conditions.
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English
  • The position might require traveling to other Area programs
  • Be available to work weekends and on short notice.
