About the role

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Financial Accountant to support the growth within our Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting including monitoring key performance indicators ensuring financial controls are operating efficiently. Monument Re Group of Companies operates across 10+ offices and data centre locations globally and is actively expanding into new territories.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monthly and quarterly management accounts. Also assist in statutory, statistical & tax reporting
  • Participate in month-end and quarter-end ledger closing processes for local and Group reporting within agreed timeframes, including the reconciliation of relevant balance sheet accounts
  • Ensuring financial controls are operating efficiently with all reconciliations completed within agreed timeframes
  • Review trial balances & reconciliations provided by third party administrators incorporating these inputs in our general ledger
  • Monitor and analyse Key Performance Indicators and deliver analytical reviews quarterly
  • Help to maintain general ledger including supporting documents & controls
  • Compile, and investigate as required, the monthly variance analysis compared to budget / prior period
  • Propose areas of improvement to ensure financial practices and procedures are effective, innovative and standardised within best practices
  • Lead or contribute in ad hoc duties and projects as they arise within the team

Role Requirements

  • Finalist/Newly Qualified accountant: ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent certification;
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry (preferably life assurance);
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with finance representatives across the group
  • Have awareness of control environments within financial systems and ability to address weakness
  • Desirable to have fundamental knowledge in the preparation of financial statements and IFRS/FRS;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central system accounts would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications;
  • Be both flexible and adaptable to a constantly changing environment, while having the ability to prioritise work efficiently and effectively.
